Meeting Thursday 19th. April We had a stunning collection of oak leaves at our meeting last month. Thanks to all members and we know there are some more leaves in bud! We had an interesting Show and Tell with several scrappy quilts, showing how you can use up your stash in varying size quilts. Do bring in your projects for Show and Tell - it is so inspiring to see what others are doing. There is now a trolley available in the hall for transporting your machines etc. from the car park, so let the trolley take the strain. If you are interested in a coach trip to Malvern Quilt Show in May or the NEC Festival of Quilts in August get in touch with Margaret Roper. Archery (strip rail) There are 2 this month. Details for the block (you may else!) are don't want to do the centre block use a 3¾"square Some of you may know the strip rail block, or you could make the simpler rail fence. To make either you need 3 fabrics, 2 strips of each fabric - 2⅜"x12". Join one strip of each fabric together to make 2 rectangles. If you want to know what to do next bring your fabric and we will demonstrate at the meeting. You could do both blocks (or even all 3!) and then you will have 8 (9!) blocks completed. Seven of our members (also members of U3A) went to The Craft Show at Olympia on Friday where all the quilts and pennants made for the Olympics were on display . It was announced which country each quilt would go to; U3A patchwork & quilting quilt is being presented to Kenya. Congratulations on all your hard work. There was a book produced showing all the quilts, which is sure to be very interesting. If you have any 'news' we could include in the newsletter – websites or shops you have found, projects etc. please let us know. ****************************************************************************** Dates for your diary '25 years' Exhibition by Heather Quilters to celebrate the founding of this group Collingwood College Sports Hall, Mitcham Road, Camberley, GU15 4AJ 21 -22 April 2012 Sat. - 10-5 Sun 10- 4 Admission £2 (husbands and children free) Guildford Quilters – 2012 Quilt Exhibition Sunday 22nd April Tuesday 24th – Wednesday 25th – Thursday 26th April Sunday 29th April 11 am to 5 pm National Trust - Clandon Park West Clandon, Guildford Surrey GU4 7RQ Normal National Trust admission applies – National Trust members admission free Special guest trader, Creative Quilting will have a fabric fair during exhibition times.
