Meeting Thursday 21 st . April 2016 The spring is coming, the trees and flowers are opening inspiring us all to get sewing! Last month Frances made glitzy glasses, scissors or needle cases. She was so well organised and the workshops were so enjoyable, many thanks Frances. Please bring your finished cases along to the meeting so that we can all see them. Frances will not be at the meeting this month, so no cake, but we hope she has a good celebration with her Mum. This month Diana will be demonstrating the iron caddy, so useful for meetings, and holidays, no more creases! Many members have signed up for machine quilting, with Chris. We shall be arranging small groups for demonstrations starting this month. The rota is attached with the newsletter. If your ‘slot’ is not convenient please swop with someone, or see a member of the committee, and change the rota on the notice board. We have kept the groups small, just 6 at a time, so that you can all see, hear and ask questions. Have a notebook with you as Chris will have some useful hints and tips to get you started. This is a demonstration for you to see how to set about machine quilting, then you can go home and practise. Lilian King, co-ordinator for Project Linus, will be coming to our meeting to collect the quilts we made earlier and tell us something about the work of Project Linus. There were lots of disappearing pinwheels last month, with promises of more to come. These could be made into more Linus quilts over the next few months – keep them coming! If you haven’t looked at The Quilters Guild website (http://quiltersguild.org.uk/) recently you may enjoy browsing the revamped site, including an online shop. You may even find a familiar face!
