Meeting Thursday 21st.August Your help is needed – Jan, the caretaker has been injured in an accident in the hall. To help her this month we are asking you to collect and stack your own chairs. If this is a problem please ask one of the committee for help. Thank you. Facts and figures. We are almost at the end of our seventh year of Loddon Quilters and many of our original members are still with us. Next month Jacky will be collecting subscriptions, which will again be £18 for the year. Last month we had a visit from JuBerry. They brought a huge selection of fabrics, patterns etc. to tempt us. We all had an enjoyable browse and many were tempted! The Quilt - It was a large block in July and there was lots of inspiration and guidance from Chris, we look forward to seeing your buildings this month. The trapunto blocks from June again showed how creative our members are. This month it is the small block near the bottom of the quilt and the technique will be stained glass window. The finished size is 121⁄2" x 7" – don’t forget to add seam allowances all round. There will be plenty of samples to inspire you. If you have already done this block as trapunto then you can try stained glass in the bottom left block. Then there is only one block to go and we will have some ideas for you in September. The rest of the year will be for catching up, layering up and quilting. We are looking forward to an amazing collection of quilts. Christmas quilts for the premature baby unit – can you find the time to make a small (18 x18) Christmassy quilt? Fay will be collecting them between now and November; let’s see how many we can make to help bring a little Christmas cheer to some anxious parents and their babies. The library – there are books to help with all the techniques, or just to show what can be done. Jan brings all these books every month so do have a look. You can have as many books as oyu wish, just sign them out. Do let us know of any shows in the area, interesting shops you have visited or web sites you have found so that we can pass on the information to others.
