Meeting Thursday 19th.June We all enjoyed Sunbonnet Sue last month and the display in the Garden Room gave everyone an opportunity to appreciate the various interpretations and the applique technique. Our technique was English piecing and we hope to have another great show and tell with your efforts. We have now done more than half the blocks, only 4 to go.

This month the demonstration will be trapunto for the block below the English piecing. The block is 25.5” x 6” finished size. This may be a new technique for some, one we don’t use as often so it will be interesting to try.

We will also be showing you ideas for the next block (for July) which will be applique and/or piecing –– this is the large block at the bottom right of the quilt and will include a building of some sort.

The library – there will be no library this month, you can return books or keep them until July.

In July we have the trader JuBerry visiting us. If you have any special requests – e.g. wadding, needles, plain fabrics – do tell us at the meeting and we can put in a request to JuBerry

Have you had a look at the Barnyarns website?

As well as the usual online store, which is competitively priced, there is interesting, and very useful, information. This seems a particularly useful article and something to look forward to -----

‘Schmetz Needle Update - Colour Coding

What a clever idea, that is now fully implemented across the Schmetz home needle range.  Like me, you must have used a needle and afterwards wondered what type of needle it is and what size, well now, you will know exactly what's what as all the needles are specifically colour coded to needle type and size.

Each needle now has two bands of colour. The top colour band indicates needle type and the lower colour band indicates needle size. The transition to the new colour coded inventory has very nearly been completed, with colour coded needles appearing as non-colour coded needles are phased out.  Due to special features, SCHMETZ Universal, Hemstitch, Double Eye, and Quick Threading needles have only one colour band to identify needle size. ‘

Thanks to Jonathan at Barnyarns. Why not print out the new code and keep it with your needles.
