Thursday 19th. May It was a busy meeting last month, including celebrating the Queen’s birthday. It was most interesting to hear from Lilian King about the workings of Project Linus – what a comfort they bring to so many young people. Thank you to everyone who contributed to blocks and/or quilts for such a worthwhile cause. You can still donate spare blocks and we will arrange Diana demonstrated how to make an iron caddy, surprisingly simple to make and so useful for carrying your iron to meetings, and on holidays! If you have made one bring it along for Chris has started her machine quilting demonstrations, they are very interesting and inspiring. There was so much useful information on getting started, needles and threads – no excuse not to have a go now! The rota for the next 2 months is on the notice board – see Chris or another member of the committee if you want to change your ‘slot’. Have a notebook with you as Chris has some useful hints and tips to get you started. This is a demonstration for you to see how to set about machine quilting, then you can go home and practise. Barnyarns – is an excellent website for information on needles and threads, and they are competitively priced. www.barnyarns.co.uk This month Barbara will be demonstrating the attic window block and how to use it to make a simple tote bag. Attic window is a useful block if you want to learn how to mitre corners, but don’t worry if you don’t like mitre corners there are other ways of doing attic windows. If you have made any items using attic window please bring them along for Show and Tell.
